Many students bring with them expectations for what a "technology" course should be. It may help for you to understand your purpose by understanding what this course is NOT:

  • This is not a 3 credit course. As opposed to an additional three hours of work outside of class, this one credit module requires one hour of additional work beyond class. Since this is an online class, anticipate spending a total of 2-3 hours of work per week on completing the course requirements. This number may be higher, depending upon your comfort and proficiency with web-based technologies.
  • This is not a stand-alone course. This module provides a series of interactivities and a culminating activity that support the work that will be simultaneously completing in READ 411 (Language and Literacy) and CURR 314 (Assessment). You should integrate your work across all three courses to the greatest extent that you can. READ 411 is your 3-credit anchor course. CURR 316 (and 314) are merely additional lens (e.g., technology & assessment) through which to experience and understand language and literacy.
